KMH takes part in Media Training for Journalists
The EU-IOM Joint Initiative for Migrant Protection and Reintegration organized a three-day media training for journalists from across the North Africa region to enhance informed migration reporting, with a main focus on return and reintegration.
Held in Tunisia from 26-28 September 2022 and attended by 14 senior journalists coming from Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia, the training aimed to contribute to strengthening media professionals’ understanding of migration trends in North Africa.
The EU-IOM Knowledge Management Hub (KMH) participated in the training by contributing to the sessions dedicated to new storytelling approaches on return and reintegration, and the concept of knowledge sharing on the topic. Concrete examples coming from the KMH’s work and interactive activities entailing a theoretic focus on the integrated approach to reintegration were shared with the journalists.
The three-day training presented numerous specialized sessions that included definitions and terminologies on legal migration, ethical reporting, current challenges and possible solutions, as well as information on IOM’s return and reintegration policy.
