As the UN community comes together on the 18th of December to commemorate International Migrants Day, IOM proudly recognizes the invaluable contribution of migrants worldwide. This occasion provides an opportunity to acknowledge the resilience, diversity and varied experiences of all migrants around the world.

The theme for this year underscores IOM’s unwavering commitment to position migration as a solution to various global challenges. As emphasized by IOM´s Director General Amy Pope, “migration is a part of the solution to greater economic prosperity’’, but it is also “a key part of the solution to climate change.’’

IOM recognizes that migrants contribute significantly to the economic, social, and cultural fabric of both their countries of origin and destination. IOM aims to dispel misconceptions and foster a more inclusive and empathetic global narratives. View here the communication campaign launched by the Return and Reintegration team dedicated to championing a well-rounded narrative on reintegration. Their efforts are aimed to promote successful sustainable reintegration and to meaningfully re-shape the conversations around returning migrants.

#ActToday serves as a message to foster collective action and strive to create a reality where migration is viewed not only as a challenge, but rather as a solution to the pressing issues facing our interconnected global society.
