Yenna Teams Up with the Platform for Learning and Advocacy
Since its expansion, the Migrant Protection Platform has been closely collaborating with Yenna, under its Social and Behaviour Change thematic area. Yenna.org is an online learning platform launched in 2020 under the COMPASS initiative. The platform was created to educate partners and IOM staff about Community Engagement, a concept essential to creating waves of change among migrants and returnees on the road to safe migration.
Together with the launch of Phase II of the COMPASS programme, Yenna has expanded its capacities for self-learning and awareness-raising with the addition of the Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Academy online course and the all-new Advocate section. These inclusions, alongside other improvements in functions and form, continue to position Yenna.org as an invaluable resource in capacity building and advocacy.
The SBC Academy Online Course
The Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Academy, adapted from the previously executed Communication for Development (C4D) Academy, was a four day in-person training to introduce IOM staff and partners to general SBC principles and IOM’s participative tools and techniques for community engagement, with behavioural science research at its core.
Select materials from the 4-day workshop have now been uploaded and adapted as articles onto Yenna, allowing any individual with interest in SBC to take the course completely free and at their own learning pace.

Yenna for Advocacy
Advocacy and awareness-raising are central to Social and Behaviour Change, hence the addition of the Advocate portion onto the site. Advocate now serves as a collection of the COMPASS programme’s campaigns, focusing on its main advocacy pillars of:
- Gender Equality (previously Road to Equality campaign);
- Mental Health;
- Counter-Trafficking
With these additions, Yenna.org continues to interlinkage with the Migrant Protection Platform and evolve as a tool for learning and advocacy, fostering a network of passionate individuals committed to making a difference.
