Unaccompanied Children in the Gaza Strip
In the Gaza Strip, over 2.2 million individuals, including half children, lack reliable access to essential services. Preceding the recent crisis, more than 543,000 children required mental health and psychosocial support due to repeated armed conflicts since 2008 and the Gaza Strip's closure since 2007, leading to ongoing uncertainty and protection issues.
The Child Protection Area of Responsibility (CP AoR) in the State of Palestine was activated in 2008. Lead by UNICEF State of Palestine at the National level, the National Child Protection AoR seeks to involve relevant agencies and existing coordination mechanisms in the State of Palestine. The CP AoR is within the umbrella of Protection Cluster in country. Membership of the CP AoR is open to UN agencies, national and international organizations, as well as government. The CP AoR has two interagency coordination WG at national level: Case Management Working Group and Unaccompanied and Separated Children Technical Working Group.
