The Asia Pacific region plays a critical role in global migration, serving as a hub for migrants in origin, transit, and destination countries, with many nations in the region experiencing all three phases. Migration within and from the region is often driven by various factors, including responses to vulnerability. As such, regional discussions on mobility must prioritize creating migration pathways that safeguard migrants' rights. This includes developing admission and stay mechanisms that adhere to human rights obligations and address compassionate and humanitarian needs.

The study emphasizes the importance of human rights and humanitarian-based admission policies, which offer migrants in vulnerable situations access to safe and regular migration routes, helping to close the protection gap.
