Global Guidance for Comprehensive Information and Orientation Programmes: How to Incorporate Ethical Recruitment into New or Existing Programmes
This document offers guidance on incorporating ethical recruitment practices into both new and existing Comprehensive Information and Orientation Programmes (CIOP). Aimed at CIOP professional trainers, labour recruiters, and employers, it facilitates the effective implementation of Pre-Employment, Pre-Departure, Post-Arrival, and Pre-Return Orientation programmes.
Drawing on IOM's vast experience in managing CIOP activities and partnering with governments, civil society, and the private sector, this guide empowers prospective migrant workers to make informed migration and employment decisions, helping them recognize recruitment-related risks and reduce vulnerability to exploitation. It also assists current and former migrant workers in evaluating their recruitment and employment experiences and understanding when and how to seek redress when harm occurs.
While designed with a global perspective, the guide is adaptable to the unique requirements of various migration corridors and employment sectors.
