BMZ’s ‘Returning to New Opportunities’ programme creates prospects – for returnees, internally displaced people and the local population. In the partner countries, the programme offers a wide variety of individual support services. Advice Centres for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration and approximately 25 projects realize the programme in 13 partner countries. They work together closely with local institutions, the civil society, the private sector and international organisations.

The programme addresses a broad target group and is open to anyone who needs support of this kind, be it local people seeking employment or training opportunities in their country of origin or internally displaced people (IDPs) and returnees from Germany and third countries wanting to make a fresh start in their home country.

The ‘Returning to New Opportunities’ programme boasts a broad range of support services. At the Advice Centers in the countries of origin, anyone – irrespective of their background or personal situation – can access free one-on-one guidance to help them map out their way forward. Job seekers, can be given access to relevant professional training and job application coaching, or placed into jobs. To accommodate the psychosocial aspect of return, the programme also includes special reintegration services.  People who are considering migrating to Germany are informed about the entry requirements and are warned of the risks of irregular migration (depending on the country).  The programme supports individuals in a coordinated process in Germany and in the countries of origin.
