A webinar session  “An integrated approach to reintegration: a focus on the mentoring approach” took place on 31 May 2021. Click here to access the recording!

The ORION project, Operationalizing an Integrated Approach to Reintegration, funded by the UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), ran from February 2018 to December 2020 with the aim of developing tools and reinforce evidence-based reintegration programming to put an integrated approach to reintegration into practice.

Together with the publication of a global Reintegration Handbook, a related training curriculum and the conduction of a comparative analysis of reintegration outcomes, the project also piloted a mentoring approach for returnees in Guinea, Morocco and Senegal.

Since January 2019, a dozen mentors spread across 12 communities provided intensified support and follow-up to 222 returnees in their communities of origin. The mentoring approach aimed at facilitating the social and psychosocial reintegration of returnees by helping them strengthen their relations in the community and improve their well-being.

During the webinar, the ORION project team together with mentors and Samuel Hall presented the results achieved as well as the lessons learnt and good practices that could be replicated elsewhere through this approach. The webinar was also the occasion to present a new video on the ORION mentoring approach.

The webinar, moderated by the EU-IOM Knowledge Management Hub, took place with simultaneous interpretation in English and French. A dedicated Q&A session allowed for meaningful exchanges with participants.
