International Women's Day 2024: Discover the Platform's Thematic Contributions
On this International Women's Day, we echo IOM's call for a cohesive commitment to invest in migrant, displaced and diaspora women and girls in all their diversity.
Recognizing the current global challenges and intersecting gender inequalities, we must continue to advocate for the respect of human rights and dignity of all. This year’s International Women’s Day is an important opportunity to bring attention to a migration perspective for sustainable development and the importance of investing in women and girls for the benefit of future generations.
As Migrant Protection Platform, we acknowledge the centrality of gender equality and the significant role played by migrant women and girls in societies. Accordingly, by managing knowledge through its five thematic areas, the Platform enhances the capacities of practitioners to:
- Take measures to avoid exacerbating existing gender inequalities and risks of gender-based violence, trafficking and exploitation against women.
- Implement social and behaviour change approaches to transform harmful gender norms affecting migrant women, diaspora communities, displaced persons and returnees.
- Improve the reintegration conditions for returnee women and girls through gender transformative approaches.
- Advocate for the protection and inclusion of migrant and displaced girls in national child protection services and promote investment to achieve gender equality for the benefit of future generations.
THE TIME FOR ACTION IS NOW!
