Monitoring and evaluation is a critical component of return and reintegration programmes. It supports accountability to beneficiaries and donors; it helps to put in place the right mechanisms for principled and evidence-based approaches; it allows to identify gaps, challenges and opportunities and ensures the availability of reliable data for analysis and research purposes.

Access below the tools that have made available by IOM and the KMH over the last years!

  • The Reintegration Sustainbility Survey - In 2017, IOM and Samuel Hall developed the Reintegration Sustainability Survey (RSS). The RSS is based on 15 indicators and 30 measurement elements relating to the economic, social and psychosocial dimensions of reintegration, together with a scoring system for measuring reintegration outcomes. The tool facilitates the measurement of returnees’ progress towards sustainability. Information on RSS development can be found here.

  • IOM Reintegration Handbook - Module 5 - Monitoring and Evaluation for Reintegration Assistance of the IOM Reintegration Handbook explores how to plan and implement a monitoring framework, to manage an evaluation and to learn and generate knowledge starting from the collected results. Module 5 is available in English, French, Spanish and Arabic.

  • Sustainable Reintegration Knowledge Bites Series - The KMH's Knowledge Bites Series aims to present findings pertaining to sustainable reintegration outcomes emerging from RSS and other M&E data. The series is designed to bring such findings to the attention of reintegration practitioners and policymakers worldwide. The Knowledge Bites Series is available here.

  • Training curriculum for training of trainers on M&E - The KMH has made publicly available two training curricula for practitioners and stakeholders interested in organizing training of trainers for building capacities on M&E and reintegration practices. The M&E training curriculum provides core knowledge related to monitoring and evaluating return and reintegration programmes and learn about different tools available in this area. The M&E Training Curriculum is available here.
