IOM participates in specialized workshop on journalism and migration
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) and the Government of El Salvador organised the second edition of the Specialised Workshop on Journalism and Migration. The main objective was to build a space for learning and dialogue among actors who produce and publish on migration issues, by promoting an ethical and responsible production of information related to migration.
The workshop has been delivered in July and August, in three virtual days and one face-to-face day, through the following modules:
- Module 1 - The representation of migrants in communication products.
- Module 2 - Coverage of the situation of migrants
- Module 3 - Trafficking in persons
- Module 4 - The role of the media in the collective construction of imaginaries around migration.
IOM HQ participated by delivering Module 2, presenting the theme Capturing Stories on Return Migration and Sustainable Reintegration. The session sought to promote ethical and balanced narratives on return and reintegration, with data-driven and fact-based approaches. Thirty-six participants from various media and governmental institutions attended. During the session, some of the audiovisual materials produced were presented and discussed.
