The report is based on survey conducted in 2022 on international migrants returning home to Cambodia after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent governmental response measures.

The assessment aimed to highlight the impact of COVID-19 on migrant workers, particularly in the context of the ongoing global recession. Survey questions were designed to explore four key areas:

  1. The demographic and socio-economic profiles of returnees
  2. Their migration and return experiences
  3. Their livelihoods and employment
  4. Their economic and social needs, as well as their vulnerabilities.

A total of 242 respondents from five priority provinces with high return rates were interviewed for this assessment.
