May 17 marked the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), a day to celebrate diversity while acknowledging the discrimination and marginalization that LGBTQI+ individuals face and the need for further human rights protection.

IOM is committed to the protection of the rights of all individuals. As such, the Organization celebrates the contributions of the diverse LGBTIQ+ community, especially from those who are migrants. Migratory statuses overlap with diverse Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC) which might heighten vulnerabilities, making it essential to enhance support systems that promote inclusion.

To commemorate #IDAHOBIT, IOM expressed support for the UN Free and Equal Campaign led by the OHCHR; While IOM also joining fellow UN agencies in celebrating the #PowerofCommunity to explore how we can help each other thrive through collaboration.
