Reflections and Achievements: The Migrant Protection Platform in 2024

As 2024 ends, the Migrant Protection Platform reflects on a year marked by collaboration, innovation, and resilience in the face of global challenges. We are deeply grateful to our partners, contributors, and community members whose support has been integral to our shared success.
Key Achievements in 2024
1. Convening and Dialogue
This year, the Platform hosted a series of impactful events, webinars and roundtable discussions that brought together experts and practitioners from diverse fields. These initiatives underscored the importance of dialogue in fostering innovative and inclusive solutions.
Key highlights include:
- Official Launch of the Migrant Protection Platform
- Unveiling Research and Best Practices to End Child Trafficking
- Mental Health and Psychosocial Perspectives on Migration, Return, and Reintegration
- Addressing Trafficking in Persons: A Joint Call for Practices with the Migration Network Hub
2. Data, Research, and Learning
The Platform’s commitment to knowledge-sharing was evident in 2024 through the release of key publications and resources. MPP advanced its data initiatives with the relaunch of the Counter-Trafficking Data Collaborative (CTDC) platform, designed to provide data of trafficking in persons in a user-friendly manner.
3. Training and Capacity Development
Training and capacity-building remained central to the Platform’s mission. The introduction of multilingual e-learning modules ensured broader accessibility, while partnerships with regional organizations enriched the content and relevance of our materials.

The Platform also collaborated with the UN Migration Network Hub to launch a joint call for resources in occasion of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons. This initiative, aimed at fostering knowledge exchange, encouraged the submission of tools, case studies, and reports that address critical issues in migrant protection. Furthermore, during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the Platform issued a special call for submissions, focused on amplifying voices and practices that address GBV and promote safer environments for migrants worldwide.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
The global migration landscape—characterized by crises and evolving legal frameworks—demands adaptability and innovative approaches. As we step into 2025, the Platform remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge-sharing.
We invite all stakeholders to join us on this journey. Together, we can continue to advance the global agenda on migrant protection and build a future that prioritizes dignity, safety, and opportunity for all.
